[ConfigMgr] Operating System Deployment (OSD) tasks may fail randomly in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1-based systems

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You perform an Operating System Deployment (OSD) task in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1(SP1)-based systems.
  • In this OSD task, you use User State Migration Tool (USMT) to capture user state information and store it on Sate Migration Points (SMP).

In this scenario, this OSD task may fail. Additionally, the following log information is logged in the Smsts.log file:
