"MMC cannot open the file drive:\SMS\bin\i386\sms.msc
This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient rights to the file."
I've seen this few time over the years but everytime I forget and I can never find anything useful on the internet. This seems to happen if your TSE session has to be killed having the SMS admin console running, other admins have no problems on the same server and you have no problems on other servers in the hierarchy so it must be something in your profile.
The resolution is to rename a file in drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\MMC\SMS. to something else and then start up the SMS Admin console again for it to be recreated.
