Interesting tool from Microsoft: Common Windows problems could soon be solved by clicking a "Fix It" button. Clicking the button kicks off a download that, once run, carries out the series of steps needed to fix... Read More...
Replacing Notepad for collecting those temporary snippets of info
03 February 2009 15:58
I've been using Notepad for many a task over the years, one of which is a place to dump bits of info I collect across the day, or while i'm performing a task. Now, I've never used this replacement before, and am truely gobsmacked at how easy it is to use. Microsoft OneNote , which is part of the Microsoft Office product range is helping me to organise... SCCM 64-Bit WoWness
05 January 2009 17:12
Jim Wightman's blog posting on SCCM not natively being a 64-bit app has been on my mind for a while now. I'd like to wave a wand and magic up a 64-bit version of the production today, so that we can leverage even more performance out of the OS and Hardware. But realistically, it won't arrive until the next major product release as it cannot be fitted... Read More...
Better news? Microsoft Plans Cost Cuts, But Huge Layoffs Unlikely
05 January 2009 13:36
Found this on the CNBC website ... far more promising news than what's been coming out of the rumour mill so far! Microsoft will embark on a significant cost-cutting initiative in 2009, which might begin as early as this month, to offset a global slowdown in sales. However, sources tell me the cuts will largely be handled through attrition and the non-renewal... Read More...

Rumour no more - Microsoft intending to lay off 17% of employees
02 January 2009 14:21
I've been following this since mid-december, but I did not want to blog about it pre-xmas\new year as it's a slug of bad news no MS employees wants to see. However, it's now internally (but not publically) been announced according to several reports on the web (none of which are can be seen as authorative) that 17% (15K) of staff are going to get...
