Overview:
Secunia CSI provides highly detailed software inventory including both programs and plug-ins. This inventory is in turn mapped to security intelligence related to the individual programs and plug-ins as well as details about vendor supplied security updates. The software can then automatically repackage these patches and push them to SCCM, allowing you to control, manage, and monitor the deployment using SCCM. The Secunia CSI can further conduct scans of desktop and server systems to ensure that the updates are applied correctly and that all systems are fully compliant.
- Secunia have the largest 3rd party application coverage of all patching vendors as they leverage their award winning security research team, 300 applications covered
- Secunia will add any specific vendor applications if required, starting by their research team monitoring said app for any vulnerabilities and in parallel creating a signature to detect the application within an SLA of 2 working days
- They utilise the software Inventory Agent within SCCM to asset scan, so uses existing infrastructure
- Results are fed direct into SCCM console, so are presented in your existing SCCM GUI, no retraining required

Presenter bio:
John McCann, Director at Security Integrator, Satisnet, has been involved with IT for the last 30 years. He has worked in many environments ranging from a leading Defence company, through to Unisys, where he specialised in parallel processing solutions. For the last 20 years John has focused on working within the Information security industry, working for security vendors to include security startups , covering the ever evolving security challenges. In 2004 he founded Satisnet, a security integrator aimed at giving independent advice and on promoting best of breed technologies, while ensuring they operate and interwork with a customer’s existing infrastructure. Satisnet has some 800+ customers across Europe and has unrivalled expertise in implementing log management and SIEM for security and operational intelligence.

The Windows Management User Group (WMUG) is proud to announce a virtual interview Niall Brady of Windows-noob.com, presented by and Robert Marshall.

Overview:

Robert and Niall where at the ConfigMgr MVP Summit 2013 in February, and at the end of a busy day on the Microsoft Campus we decided to head back to the Hotel and go over Niall's CM12 BitLocker front-end HTA while having some food and liquid refreshments, when it dawned on Robert that we could record the demo and put it on the web for you all to see.

So, using a Camera Phone and shaky-cam technology we set about recording the 30 or so minutes it took to refresh a Windows 8 BitLocker laptop to Windows 8 BitLocker. Worked out really well, and shows off the HTA in action.

Anyone doing OSD will want to take a look at this HTA, one of the features is the ability to get to state data on a PC that is in a BSOD cycle, and from which you obviously cannot run a task sequence to perform state capture in readiness for a rebuild, and thus you would need to fall back to doing this via WINPE, Niall discusses this point during the video.

We're very proud to announce that Wally Mead is coming back to the UK, and to WMUG on the 10th of November 2012, to present across a day on System Center 2012 Configuration Manager RTM and mostly SP1.

Wally is one of the most authoritative sources of information for the product, and with his usual fast tempo and sharp wit will be taking us on a journey through the RTM and SP1 feature-sets, all the while answering questions from the audience.

We are expecting Wally to have a lot more time to answer questions this year, so if you are planning on migrating to the latest version, or have it already installed, this is an amazing opportunity to ask Wally and get a direct answer. The questions flow throughout the day, so this is more than just a sit and watch event.

13.00 - System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1

Service Pack 1 is close to RTM, and is rich in new features and functionality such as App-V 5, Windows 8 deployments, real-time actions, cross platform clients, Wally Mead will be covering these and many more while answering questions on SP1.

15.30 - Wally covering what he likes about System Center 2012 Configuration Manager and SP1

In this session Wally will freestyle with the ConfigMgr product, and shows us what he likes the most about ConfigMgr and SP1. If we're lucky we might get to see the MAC client running.

After a lengthy hiatus, WMUG is back with it's next event, being held at Cardinal Place, Victoria, London (map, directions), between 11:30am and 6pm and we have Wally Mead, Sr. Program Manager for Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager 2007 stopping over during his tour of Europe ahead of TechEd 2010 giving us a presentation on ConfigMgr 2007 R3 and going over several notable and important features of v.Next, and we also have Randy Roffey from Silect giving us a presentation of Silects latest offering, ConfigWise as well as spending some time checking out their other ConfigMgr centric product CP Studio.

This is almost an all-day event, so can we ask that you aim to arrive between 11am and 11:15am so as to minimise any delays since we really need to start at 11:30am to make sure we get all the content in and don't disappoint you by calling short any of the following sessions:

This will be a great opportunity to hear about R3 from Wally, as well as a walk through several of the key features of v.Next, including RBAC, a flatter hierarchy, User Centricity and the new inter-site replication model amongst others (subject to time!), we've also managed to get some time with Randy Roffey from Silect who is going to give us a short tour of ConfigWise and CP Studio. Another great event worth attending.
