Watering Johans hydration kit results in kittens! No ConfigMgr 2012 Beta 2!

That Johan Arwidmark bloke made YAHK , Yet Another Hydration Kit for ConfigMgr 2012 Beta 2. It'll build out a ConfigMgr lab environment consisting of two DC's and one Primary, using Powershell and a few bits and pieces such as W2K8R2, SQL2008. It's very handy for rebuilds of a lab environment ... or even first time setup for a "first look" for those that don't want to go through the installation...

ConfigMgr 2007 - SQL 2008 - Reporting made easy by John Marcum

John Marcum MVP wrote an awesome beginners guide to generating ConfigMgr 2007 reports using SQL 2008. Well, I did something like this a while back, and the only reason I bring it up, is not to steal some of Mr Marcums thunder, but because I wrote it for SMS2003 using SQL 2000! To make...

    Opalis becomes Orchestrator

A good choice of name for the rebrand of the System Center Opalis. Adam Hall MSFT put together an awesome blog post letting us know what to expect from this next release. You should definitely take a look at what Opalis\Orchestrator looked this over, because for a lot of us it’ll change the way we are administering environments.

    SVCHOST.EXE - What am I running

Today I had to show someone how to identify which SVCHOST.EXE process was running the WMI service. It was easily done in Process Explorer, job done, but after I googled around to draw together some more "resources" for them, to peruse to learn more, and I found this great article on the aptly named bleepingcomputer website ... they have a good write up on how to check out what services are running in an SVCHOST...

Excellent run through the Client Health feature of ConfigMgr 2012 by Abraham Wang at MS. Moniitor your ConfigMgr\SMS2003 Backups via a report

Essentially I wanted to know what sites haven't backed up within a given date range (a day and a half since last backup), and those that have never backed up (never reported a backup). Groovy stuff, not so easy to determine though, or so it would seem, unless you fall back entirely onto the Status Message sub-system. When a SMS2003 or ConfigMgr backup completes, a Status Message is produced by the SMS_SITE_BACKUP...

ConfigMgr Client in workgroup or untrusted domains

I've written a few documents covering this, but never for the community, always an employer! Well Clifton Hughes over at MS has taken opportunity to bring together all the nuggets of information on aiding ConfigMgr to support workgroup based or clients in untrusted domains. This document covers the processes and considerations for managing clients in another un-trusted domain, as if they were in a workgroup...
